The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to the Arts Commission of Danville/Boyle County with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Support

In addition to significant support from the Kentucky Arts Council, the state’s arts agency, with state tax dollars and federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, our funding relies on donations and in-kind contributions from members and friends, including local governments, which recognize our role in providing accessibility to the arts—a key consideration when companies from outside our area evaluate Danville/Boyle County as a suitable site.

You may wonder if the Arts Commission is redundant to the Community Arts Center. While both organizations have a similar mission, they serve the community in different ways. A key difference is that the Arts Commission does not take commissions or a percentage of sales by artists who sell their work during our activities. Nor is there a charge for participation, which is not juried or by invitation. Rather, Arts Commission events are open to all local artists/performers with a creative spirit and the bravery necessary to put a part of themselves before the public.

Working with artists and businesses, we raise funds for the McKune Visual Arts Scholarship, the Powell Performing Arts Scholarship, and the Lockhart Art Is Vital Fund so that young people without means for extra-curricular activities can go to forensic or music competitions, attend a concert, or be assisted with the cost of private instruction or workshops.

We actively coordinate and facilitate positive interaction among local artists, arts organizations, institutions, and the business and professional community. We publicize all local amateur and professional arts activities, performances, classes, and exhibits through our on-line calendar and in ARTScene, our free monthly newsletter that is sent by mail to members.

Support your community and the arts. You can give in the fall through the annual GoodGiving Campaign, a regional on-line fund-raising event. Or, you can join now by sending your contribution by mail to:
